From community to compliance

Practical impact for people & forests.

FASS is a Surinamese non-profit network of forestry and agriculture experts, turning best practice into tangible, verifiable results — from community forestry to field monitoring and timber legality.

Who we are

A bridge between the community, the forest, and the market.

FASS operates as a flexible, on-call network of sector experts rather than a fixed staff. That lets us mobilise the right expertise for each assignment, stay close to field realities, and keep overhead low — while delivering donor-proof documentation.

Partners see us as a bridge between four worlds that rarely align: local communities, technical forestry practice, governance and policy, and the compliance requirements of international markets.

What we do

Three areas of expertise,
one integrated practice.

A field-to-decision approach: we design processes that lead to choices, plans and workable next steps — not reports that sit on a shelf.

Community engagement & participatory planning

Workshops, visioning, FPIC-style consent and feedback to local governance — so plans are owned locally and built to last.

Forest & landscape monitoring

Transects, inventories, GPS validation, permanent sample plots and digital dendrometers — field data turned into realistic management choices.

Legality & due diligence

Supply-chain checks, document review, site visits and risk classification for EUTR and the US Lacey Act — lowering risk, opening markets.

Let's build something durable together.

Whether you're a community, an NGO, a donor, or a company that needs independent technical and compliance support — we'd like to hear from you.
